Medicines and conditions, by body system

Start from a part of the body — the heart, lungs, brain, gut, hormones, skin and more — and see the conditions, medicine classes, active-ingredient guides and calculators that belong to it.

Education and reference only. These hubs explain which medicines relate to each body system and why — they contain no doses and are not a substitute for advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

Frequently asked questions

What is the body-system directory for?

It groups everything on the site by the part of the body it relates to — the heart and circulation, the lungs, the brain and nerves, the gut, the hormones, the skin and so on. Pick a system to see the conditions it covers, the medicine classes used, the individual active-ingredient guides and the relevant clinical calculators, all in one place.

How is this different from the Conditions or Medicines pages?

The Conditions A–Z is organised by illness and the Medicines A–Z by drug class. This directory is organised by body system, so you can start from “the heart” or “the lungs” and work outwards to the conditions and medicines that belong to it. They all cross-link to each other.

Do these pages give doses?

No. Every page on this site is dose-free. They explain which medicines are used and why, but doses depend on the individual and the exact product — always confirm with your prescriber, the BNF and the product labelling.

Are these a substitute for medical advice?

No — they are education and reference only. They help you understand a body system and its treatments, but decisions about your own care should always be made with a qualified clinician.

Need a structured clinical reference for your team?

We build evidence-led, dose-free patient-information, formulary and decision-support resources.
