What medical educators are up against

Keeping a curriculum current — and defensible

Medical schools, postgraduate training providers and CPD organisations are asked to keep pace with a clinical landscape that now changes faster than a five-year curriculum cycle. New diagnostic AI, shifting guidelines and the move towards the UKMLA all create pressure to refresh teaching content while faculty time is already fully committed to teaching, assessment and research. The result is often a backlog of material that is clinically sound but pedagogically dated, or modern in format but thin on rigour.

There is also a quality-assurance dimension. Content destined for accreditation or for an awarding body has to demonstrate constructive alignment between learning outcomes, teaching and assessment — and to show it has been clinically reviewed by people qualified to do so. We bring both halves: subject-matter clinicians who can vouch for accuracy, and instructional design that maps each piece of content to measurable outcomes and reliable assessment.

How an engagement runs

From scoping to delivered, reviewed content

  1. Scope the gap. We work with your programme leads to identify where the curriculum needs new content, refreshed assessment or faculty upskilling.
  2. Design for outcomes. Every module is built backwards from its learning outcomes, with assessment and, where relevant, SCORM-compatible eLearning and CME packaging.
  3. Clinically review. Subject-matter clinicians review for accuracy and currency before anything reaches your learners; where a niche specialism is needed we draw on our expert network.
  4. Hand over and support. You receive editable source materials and a review trail, plus optional faculty workshops to embed the content.

We work with deans, programme directors, assessment leads and learning-technology teams. Typical engagements include building an OSCE station bank, modernising a module on clinical AI, designing a written-assessment blueprint, or running a faculty workshop on assessment design. Where a programme touches exam preparation directly, we can align it with our UKMLA and membership preparation work.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Do you build accredited content?

We design eLearning and CME content with assessment and SCORM compatibility, positioned for accreditation. See eLearning & CME Content.

Can you deliver faculty workshops?

Yes — workshops on clinical AI, assessment design, OSCE and curriculum topics, tailored to your faculty.

How does institutional procurement work?

We provide curriculum packs and a capability statement suited to institutional procurement; tell us your requirements and timeline.

Can you help us teach clinical AI to students and faculty?

Yes. As clinical AI enters practice, both learners and educators need a grounded, non-hyped understanding of validation, safety and limitations. We design sessions and materials drawing on our AI validation and clinical safety practice so your teaching reflects how these tools are actually assured in the NHS.

Do you work with continuing professional development providers too?

Yes — not only universities. We support royal-college-aligned CPD providers, deaneries and independent training organisations with content, assessment design and faculty development. See Medical Education.
