Corrected Reticulocyte Count

Reticulocyte count adjusted for anaemia.

Education and reference only. Not a substitute for clinical judgement, local policy or product labelling. Always verify before clinical use. Values are calculated in your browser and never stored.

When to use

Use to interpret a reticulocyte percentage in anaemia, correcting for the lower haematocrit.

Why use

A raw reticulocyte % overstates marrow response when the haematocrit is low.

Critical actions

Corrected retic = retic% × (Hct / 45). A value >2% suggests an appropriate marrow response (e.g. haemolysis/blood loss); <2% suggests hypoproliferation.

Evidence & references

  1. Standard correction using a reference haematocrit of 45%.
