Critical Care

SOFA Score

Sequential organ failure assessment.

Education and reference only. Not a substitute for clinical judgement, local policy or product labelling. Always verify before clinical use. Values are calculated in your browser and never stored.

When to use

Use to quantify the degree of organ dysfunction in critically ill patients and track change over time. A rise of ≥2 with infection supports a sepsis diagnosis (Sepsis-3).

Why use

It objectively measures multi-organ dysfunction and correlates with mortality.

Advice

Bilirubin and creatinine in mg/dL. An acute rise in SOFA of ≥2 points in suspected infection is consistent with sepsis (Sepsis-3).
