Corrected Calcium

Albumin-adjusted total calcium.

Education and reference only. Not a substitute for clinical judgement, local policy or product labelling. Always verify before clinical use. Values are calculated in your browser and never stored.

When to use

Use when albumin is abnormal and total calcium may misrepresent the physiologically active calcium.

Why use

Much calcium is albumin-bound, so total calcium can mislead in hypo/hyperalbuminaemia.

Evidence & references

  1. Corrected Ca = measured Ca + 0.02 × (40 − albumin g/L).
