When to use

Use to estimate glomerular filtration rate and CKD stage in adults using the 2021 race-free CKD-EPI creatinine equation.

Why use

It is the current recommended creatinine-based eGFR equation, removing the race coefficient.

Critical actions

Creatinine must be in mg/dL (divide µmol/L by 88.4). eGFR is unreliable in acute kidney injury, extremes of muscle mass and pregnancy.
